“Icon Legacy Ranch House through Tom Weaver Excavating & Homes completed Dec. 2015
I would like to share our experience with Icon Legacy homes, when my wife and I decided to build a new ranch home we started our search for a modular home manufacturer. We had talked to people in our area that we knew and got feedback and recommendations, we visited a couple of model homes and open houses. We narrowed it down to two manufacturers, Icon Legacy was one of them, we worked with both companies as we designed our home, I carefully compared each estimate feature by feature between both companies to be sure we were making a fair apples to apples comparison. Icon legacy was very good to work with and quick to respond. When we had all of the information we needed to make our decision, we went with Icon Legacy through Tom Weaver Excavating & Homes.
I want to address the negative comments that have been left on websites about Icon Legacy, our experience was great. Randy was a great help from the beginning, offered suggestions when we didn’t know exactly what we wanted to do. We went on a tour through the factory and he explained how the manufacturing process works. After the house was delivered and set if we have any issues they were quickly resolved by the service team. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We had none of the negative experiences mentioned on web reviews.
The most important part of the whole experience was selecting the proper builder/contractor, this person is the key individual which determines if your experience is Great or not. He is your representative and works on your behalf between the Housing manufacturer and all the trades.
Tom Weaver is the easiest and most comfortable person to deal with, he brings many years of experience to the table and was very helpful in making suggestions and improvements to our decision process. Tom was very patient with us as we worked through our comparison process and waited for our property to close. As soon as we gave the green light approval he made things happen fast, we placed our house order in August and we set the house on Oct. 22nd and moved in Dec 11th. Our experience has been great, the quality of the work Tom and his crew of sub contractors was exceptional and it shows in the end result. With any project there are always a few problems that arise but I can say that whatever issues have come up they have been dealt with promptly and satisfactorily by Tom.
Anyone that has visited and viewed our new home has commented how amazed they are at the details and quality, we are very pleased.”

Dear Sir or Madam,
My siblings and I purchased a wonderful home from your company, final plans dated 10-24-2014. This home has been magnificent. We have enjoyed every inch of it and received excellent customer service from our builder. We could not have asked for a better experience. If you ever need a customer for marketing, or for a reference, call us. We are big fans!

When you build your home with Icon Legacy you really don’t have anything to do with them, the builder that you hire (and this is where you have to be careful) is the one responsible for the finishes. Icon did a FANTASTIC job on our home and D&D builders did a FANTASTIC job on the finishes. This ended up being a 3,200 square foot home (D&D added the garage and the room above) and it came out perfectly. I had picked a design from on-line and D&D was great with helping me tweak it. Icon did a great job and I know I have a house that the same people who do windows, for example, are the same ones doing the windows for years. It is obvious there is a great deal of pride in their work. Great Experience all around! PICK the right people to put the finishes on!!!!!

I’m very upfront with people and I don’t have a problem in saying, “Do you want a board of directors building your house, or a family-owned business building your house?”
If you’re a good builder, you belong at Icon. If you are a custom builder, especially, you belong at Icon. Anybody can slap boxes together, but do they fit? Do you have a team behind you? I call, and somebody’s answering the phone.
They do such great customization. They have engineers to make sure all the codes and everything is right, to build per county, per state with the help of the builder

Icon’s strength is their price point and what they’re giving us for that dollar. Typically other vendors don’t give crown molding throughout the home as a standard option. Icon gives me the tools I need to sell the house and be the first man in line.
In the modular industry, the faster we can get back to the customer with a price for what they’re looking for, the faster we can get a person into a home. That’s the reason why people do modular. It’s fast, and they’re getting a better bang for their buck. They get a conventionally built home. It’s got 2×10 floor joists, it’s got 2×6 exterior walls, 2×4 interior walls, it’s all insulated the same way. When we get done with the house, you can’t tell it from a stick-built home.
A conventional builder doing a standard Cape Cod home wouldn’t be using metal straps for putting the walls in place. He wouldn’t be using ring shank nails on the floor. He wouldn’t be using two-part glue to connect the drywall to the ceiling. He wouldn’t be using two-part glue to glue the floor down to their floor joists. Those are the things a stick builder’s just not going to do. He’s going to use tube glue, and he’s going to use regular frame and nails to nail the floor down. Icon does all of these extra things.
The house I’m doing right now is a 2-story with a front porch on the first floor and a front porch on the second floor and they did a bang-up job on it. They really exceeded my expectations. It went together very well.
Expect a well-built product. Expect personal attention and the feeling of being important to a smaller family-run business.

I’ve been doing this for a very, very long time – I’m going on 20 years. I’ve dealt with a lot of manufacturers. I know how the industry works. What I like about Icon, is the design flexibility and they’re accessible. They include more features in their standard base. And that’s a good selling point to a potential customer. If you’re looking to build something outside the box, reverse gables, and a bunch of valley sets and that are not the norm, you’re going to limit yourself if you do it with another factory.
Icon has more design flexibility; giving you more control of what you want to build. Icon is very open to that. With Icon we were able to incorporate steel into the construction. We were able to do the moment framing for the hurricane codes, the steel framing, and get it all customized.
They are a very, very good factory. I’ve been through all of them. The family is very progressive; they are very forward thinking. They label everything. Everything is where it should be. If we have any questions, their engineer is always available.
Things don’t always go 100% but when I’ve had problems, they’ve been very responsive and very easy to work with. Things run smoothly. I have a good working relationship with Icon. We expect a lot from each other and I know that if anything happens and I have any problems, they’ll stand by and be ready to correct it.
- Stacy Bishop
Icon is very personable. On the first project I did with them, the day we were craning the home on the foundation, the owner called me to see how it was going.
Other companies tend to do curbside delivery. Deliver the product, and forget about it. Everything after that point is a builder’s responsibility.
The drivers that deliver for Icon really work with the contractor trying to get the pieces of the house as close as they need to be. I haven’t met anybody at the factory, on the sales team, engineering, or even the drivers that isn’t very personable and very professional.
Another one of the key factors is Icon’s turnaround time on design. They care about building a home for me as much as I care about finishing it the way I’d want it if I lived in it. I don’t think they’d build a home that any one of them wouldn’t want to live in.
I don’t see myself going anywhere else.
- Mike Madtes
They’re a family-owned business– instead of being owned by a group of investors. The ownership makes a big difference. They care so much. They don’t want to neglect any detail along the way. They listen a lot more to customers. If something goes wrong, they’re there to take care of it right away.
Icon has an advantage over other companies because they control their operation better.
I hire a set crew to install each house. These crews set homes from as many as 10 or 15 different modular companies every year so they get to see different products coming out of different factories. And I have heard many times, “We don’t have any problems with Icon Legacy. They fit good. It’s a better product and fits exactly.
Icon is the best. I can say that because I’ve been there. I’ve seen their organization. I’ve compared their product to everybody else. I know I can get my customers the best deal, and the best house for their money. And I know I get the best customer service. No short cuts.
